What is the normal operating temperature for a 1987 K5 with a TBI 350 and a manual tranny...? just want to make sure I am where I need to be...

Chris

My 89 runs 195-200 down the road. With the recomended 195 degree thermostat. But I have a auto trans. Sometimes when I'm wheeling slow on a hot day with the AC on it gets up to 210. One time it got almost up to 220 pulling a loooong grade towing my boat on a 100 degree day. I turned off my AC and it cooled down to 210.

Mine with an autometer mechanical guage plumbed into the stock temp port runs at 195 on the nose on days that are 70+ and 185 on days 70 and lower. Has the stock 195 stat in it also.

not to butt in but...

where is your temp sending unit located?...i've seen some in the block between #1 and #3. and i've also seen them located in the intake manifold next to the thermostat neck.
