Hi all,
I am getting around to ordering parts and finding a place to restore my 1978 K5 2wd Blazer. I guess My G/F heard my thoughts cause she modified the passenger door the other day and it’s quite a substantial crunch. I’ve looked online for a new door shell but am not confident with some of these companies. One has a pic of the door shell and the spot welds look terrible, like someone used a center punch and knocked the welds outwards.
Has anyone purchased a replacement door shell and was very happy with the quality of it (thickness, welds, folds, no need to do ANY modifications to make parts or door fit)? Which company’s do you recommend. Would like to get an original, NOS, etc.
Thank you in advance.

There’s enough original parts out there to buy a still good gm door. I’d happily pay 300 for a clean original. Even down here in San Antonio they are 200 a nice door.

Thanks. As I kind of read around the inter-web, looks like years 77-87 door wheels fit the 78. Please correct me if I mis read. Plan on calling a few auto salvage places to see if they have one that needs minor repair (unlike mine).

Welcome to CK5 @K5 in Texas

Some good things have been said about goodmark industries. I don't think any repop parts are going to fix w/o at least some fitting. Good use will be the best bet for fit, even those will need some massage. Be sure to get the correct generation door.

1978-91 are the correct door shell, but the glass and wing windows were changed in 1981 to thinner glass and different door panels.
Hi Kenny, Will a 91 door shell require modification for a 78 wing window and glass to bolt and fit the door shell?
