ok i've heard this term a few times around and from what i gather it's pretty much stock factory parts just in good shape right?? What makes them so expensive?? Is it just cause they're hard to find or something??

Just kinda wonderin' thanks

It means New Old Stock. So there original parts, but never used. Sometimes the parts fit better, cuz there not generic, but cost more.

Original parts that are unused, and *not made by the manufacturer anymore*.

Plenty of parts being sold out there as NOS are actually still available. Not as many as I'd like, but still many.

NOS= New old Stock as said above.Usually quality Parts made in America. Verses the junk parts made in Mexico China, Indonesia, ECT widely available on the market today

I get so mad when I see NOS in a listing on eBay. It means New Old Stock OEM parts never installed. However some Richard Craniums think it means after market repo or current licensed parts (can tell by the package).

There is on asshat company that listed "OEM Fender" in the title. Then in the description they said OEM style I keep reporting it as misleading. eBay made them stop (one for the little guy).

Here is how I see the NOS packaging. I was told there is a way to tell the date off the package :dunno:

Oh yea most important. I like NOS OEM because thicker metal / better fit. They were made for the vehicle by the maker to specs.

Yep, I picked up a set of NOS Silverado emblems for the rear quarters on my K5. Got them in, they were in original GM packaging, and much higher quality than the replicas I had seen. Definately worth it, if they are true NOS parts.

ok guys. New Old stock. First time i heard this i thought it meant NOS as in Nitrous. :doah: Wondered why they were what people looked for when restoring cars and such

I had NOS on my 1980 Z28 and yes Marvin Miller did call it NOS (Nitrous Oxide System) But when used as a term for parts it means New Old Stock (never installed)

My brother and mom's car

Now that i have the new knowledge i might just start restoring this pile :haha:

November 1979 I bought my Z28 right off the truck. :haha: Saw it on a truck and asked driver where they were going then went to the two dealers. I was the first to test drive it (6miles) when it was over we had 47 miles on it. They did prep on it and stuck it in the show room. I then bought it and keep her till winter of 1991.

Was a sad day seeing her go I had named it Interceptor 350, 4bl, 400TH with 200 hsp Marvin Miller NOS and Chrome Hooker roll bar. My first hand experience with converting to true duals. I had the night rider lights behind grille. Red marker light over axle and yellow in behind the side vents on front fenders.

I then made tail and brake light kill switches. Yea was a good little toy had 58,000 miles on her when I sold it.
