A steal for somebody. Auction states 69-75, but we know the versions were 69-72 and 73-75 and one won't fit the other. The guy running the auction hasn't a clue what it is.
However, I've analyzed the pictures by enhancement and comparing the parts with the old instructions sheets for 73-75 and 69-72 tops, the rods that go around the door windows match those in the pictures on the parts lists in the 69-72. I strongly believe this to be a 69-72 snap version, not the -73-75 version. But I make that statement with no responsibility whatsoever, don't come banging on my PM box bitching if you buy it and it's not a 69-72, I'm just telling you what I think it is based off of an hour of research of the instruction sheets parts lists and enhancing the pictures so one can see them better.

So, if you've always wanted an STC top for your 69-72, here is is ,for a steal too (at the $200 price)....

It looks like a later model version. I have the 69-72 version and it looks way different. The pictures thdere don't seem to show anything that covers the drivers seat so it looks like it fits the non-full convertibles.

Edit: I think I'm wrong. I realized the tan portion is the top and not just a bag. It also has the hardware for over the front windows, so it looks like it's at least for a full vert.

I had worked out a trade for this very top from this guy a couple weeks ago, he changed up the deal and I backed out. Good luck.

Also I feel sure that he will end the auction if it doesn't pass $500 to $600.

Yeah, I get the feeling, based off it's Buy-it-Now price, that if the price doesn't get up there, the auction will dissappear.

I looked very closely at the hardware pictured and that hardware matches the hardware in the parts list section of the 69-72 version. To top itself is difficult to discern which it is since only the dimensions are slightly different in certain areas from 69-72 and 73-75. It is definitely for a full convertible, that is readily apparent, and he says he wanted it for an '84 but realized it wouldn't fit, so if it was for a 76-91, I think he'd keep it.
What about it makes you think it's not for 69-72?

I think it's also missing the windshield frame metal at the front, unless he just didn't picture that. That could be a rather difficult piece to fab, not impossible, but not so easy either.

I changed my mind once I realized what the picture was really showing. It could be for a 69-72. If it is, it appears to be missing the windshield frame attachment, or maybe it's a snap top style and not a fastrac.

It's a snap for sure. Once I enhanced his photo, the snaps along the bottom edge of the bed rail area of the top, the snaps became very visible.

By the looks of the bows i'd say it's for a 73-75. The pieces that go above the door glass have a bend to match the doors of a 73-75. Those pieces are straight on a first gen and the bows are bent a little closer to 90 degrees.

Ok, here's what I'm looking at:

Here's the parts from the auction (enhanced picture so you can see more detail, his pictures were very dark):

Here's the 69-72 parts from STC's instructions:

The 73-75 door glass piece vertical rod has a much larger bend in it at the bottom than the 69-72 piece. Just MHO. I have my old kayline 73-75 door glass vertical rod as well, it looks just like the picture for the 73-75.
Now, looking at those pictures, it seems the parts from the auctions match closer to the parts from the 69-72, does it not? I'm not the best 'looker', opinions welcome, of course!

Did you look at the actual top? Could you tell which version it was? Did it have anymore hardware (like the snaps and little pieces) that are not shown? Just curious.

He's jacking someones whowho, read the comments and questions, he doesn't either have a 84 K5 I'd bet. why did he buy it if he knew how large the top was ie the overall length being 2' longer than he needed.

He told me that it was for a 1st gen. Said he was just missing the bolts, but had the framing and top. Those are the same pictures he sent me. He has an 84 and was on another site talking about cutting this one up and making it fit his. I told him, no we'll work something out, I needed it for my 1st gen. I never seen it in person. He's about 1 hour from me.

Long story short, I don't really know about dealing with him.

Yeah, sounds like he's playing games. He claims he doesn't know what it's for, 1st or 2nd. I think he's trying to appeal to a wider audience with his sudden loss of memory.

After looking at mine, it does look like first gen top hardware, but he's missing the windshield bracket. That's one of the most important parts, but you could prpbably make up something similar.
