Hey guys I haven't been on in awhile.....But I have a question about a 2004 Oldsmobile alero. I have been having a lot of problems with it the last few days. It all started out with a simple brake pad replacement. The pass side went great but the caliper on the drivers side went south (leaking around the piston) So I bought a new one. Stuck it on bleed the system and the pedal was still spongy so I replaced the master cylinder bleed it they got a little better but still really spongy. Well to make a long story short I'm still dealing with spongy brakes I have bleed the piss out of all 4 wheels. I went through a bottle and half of brake fluid. To make things better is when the car is sitting the drivers wheel and front wheels are where they are suppose to be but when going down the road the steering wheel is pointing at about 2:00. But it was fine before the brakes where done. To making it even better while I was bleeding the bake brakes (outside at night with snow and ice on the ground.) I put the jack under one of the rear bars running to the drivers side rear wheel and jacked it up bending the bar. :doah::mad: I need to know what the name of the bar is. theres a pair that run down to each rear wheel they about 2+/- feet long and 1"+/- diameter. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks
Adam

When you pushed the piston back in on the brakes, did you release the valve on the back of the caliper to allow the fluid to come out right at the wheel? If not, you may have damaged your brake system. :(

Some newer cars have filters and/or other weird crap in the lines, so if you push the fluid back into the system (by pushing the brake piston into the caliper) you can clog, damage, or destroy the parts.

If I were you, I would call the dealer and ask them if you can change pads in the way you did - and explain to them what you did - and they can tell you better.
