Well, I ain't a bit happy with the ReadyWelder I just got. Maybe the wire size is to large, but I can't get any penetration at all with two fully charged batteries in series! 24 VDC. I got a tank of 75% Argon 25% CO2 and .030 wire. Wire size is to large is all I can think of! Photos later!

There MUST be somthing wrong! I get full penitration on 1/2" plate with mine and 2 good batt. runnin' .040 flux core. I LOVE mine, that's with 2 old cheep car batt. (it will run 'em dead quick:p: )

I thought it might be my technique! I'll try some more!

what is your technique? 75/25 argon/co2 isn't going to penetrate as well as a good flux cored wire. Flux cored penetrates well just doens't make the greatest looking results.

if this was goign to be more for trail repairs, flux core is probably going to be a better option for shielding....outside sequestering gasses tend to blow away.....

Fluxcore will always get way better penetration, just won't look as pretty if you don't know how to weld very well, lol

Either drop to .023 or so, or switch to a flux core. With .035 flux, two good batteries and a good intermediate cable i have to be carefull not to burn through anything less than 3/16". Sometimes i forget how much more power it has over my lincoln 135.

I used mine quite abit when I put up my aircraft hanger. It worked great, I have a M1009 and purchased the 24V plug adapter with my Ready Welder. Started the truck, plugged everything in, used flux core went to work. Wouldn't carry anything else.
