The carrier denied my shipment booking, that's a bummer. I knew $220 was too good to be true!

Going to keep looking into other alternatives. May drive out there and bring it to a local tire shop and just drive it home. Would be white-knuckling the whole way!

Man I am really rooting for you to get this done. Had I not been in school and been home, closer to GJT, I'd try to lend a hand. Good luck buddy, I hope you get that truck home.

Thank you, amigo!! I paid the seller for the truck already via PayPal, so I'll get it home one way or another.

Did you try calling Western Towing? They do work for insurance salvage pools, maybe they could do it for a decent price.

And if you get over here and need some help, get ahold of me.

I haven't, and I'll give them a call tomorrow! Thanks for the suggestion and the offer to help!! I may end up going out there myself honestly... would just replace the tires in GJ before driving home. We shall see.

Keep us posted on your plans. If I could figure out a way to swing it, I would try to come along.

Get AAA and drive it within 150 miles of the house. Then have it towed the rest of the way. But sign up for AAA the day before you need it otherwise they tack on like $75

I appreciate it Scott! I will absolutely keep you updated, it would be great if you could come along.

So far, the long and short of my plan is basically this:
  • Shipping it from GJ:
    • I got an offer for ~$280 from a guy on uShip. That's pretty good given that I would spent about $100 in gas (two ways for one vehicle, one way for the K30) if I went out there myself. I am probably going to pursue that unless my buddy is available to go out to Grand Junction this Saturday.
  • Going out there and driving it home:
    • My good friend Rob is the only non-CK5 car junkie that I know in Denver. He came out with me the first time I looked at it in person. He said he may be available this weekend but that Saturday may not work out. I need to do it Saturday if I do it at all because all of Grand Junction's tire shops are closed on Sundays and there is going to be snow in Vail (on the way home) that day.
So that's where I sit right now. The uShip guy is being a little flighty so my fingers are crossed that he will come through if Rob is unavailable. The next best uShip offer I have on the table is $425, but I might be able to talk that guy down further.

Well guys it's not all that exciting but Rob can't make it on Saturday, so I booked the $280 quote and am all set. It will probably work out closer to about $310 after the uShip fees and whatnot but it's nice that I can just sit back and not worry as much about the drive logistics.

Never done this before, so fingers are crossed it works out okay. The shipper just texted me saying that he's keeping a close eye on the snow forecast. Once again, we shall see what happens I suppose.

Dang, I was going to suggest you wait until September. Drive out and get it, then carry on to Blazer Bash and do some trails with it. :D

But I would have offered to "store it" at my house first..

Looks as though the K30 is going to land here tomorrow evening.

I gotta get out today and take photos of my Mitsubishi 3000GT so that I can put 'er up on Craigslist. That's gonna be a tough sale for me because it was my first car and I'm now 30. Had it just shy of 15 years. But people change as they get older and I'm just not very interested in working on that car. Plus it's an automatic so it's sort of an oddball anyhow. But I know I'll miss it once it is gone.

What year was is that 3000GT? I ask because I remember in the mid 90's those were kinda popular as a "hot" car.
