I just installed an alum. Intake and headers. Now when I try to start the engine it shoots flames out of the carb. I tried adjusting the timing and messing with the carb a little. Also my plugs stick out too far for the headers, do they make shorter plugs for header applications. An info would be a big help.

Sounds like you reinstalled the distributor 180* off when you swapped the manifold. The motor will try and backfire threw the carb or throttle body when you do that. Ask me how I know /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Accel and maybe a few others make header plugs for headers.

I made sure I installed the distributor in the correct position. I marked it before I removed it. Anyone else have any ideas. BTW How do you know?

You may have marked the distributor body in relation to the manifold or some other referance point but what about the ignition rotor location? If it is anywhere but where it should be it may not start and will possibly backfire on you.

SO, i concur with the others that your distributor timing is off. Maybe it's not off 180* but it does seem to be off. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Did you take the cap off and look at where the rotor was pointing before you pulled the distributor out?
