So I'm seeing alot of custom dash work being done on here, but I have a question: has anyone ever tried making a partial wrap-around dash? I'm thinking of the big rig/RV style that comes out about a foot or so on the drivers right hand side. MY only problem is the shifter. I can always torch the shifter and bend it to work around the outcropping, but has anyone ever tried this design and if so, did it work or not? Pics would help if you have them. I'll try to post some sample of what I'm thinking of.

First pic is alittle excessive, but #2 & #3 are a little more of what I'm looking to do some day. The outcropping would be for stereo, environmental controls and switches. The project truck only has a heater, so the enviro controls should be easy to move/modify. The main area in front would be gauges and indicator lights (hell maybe those will be over with the switches as well).

Maybe. I'm looking at becoming a Stormchaser for my area. I want to start with low-tech chasing but eventually step up to running a laptop with programs to monitor storm data.

Really I'm just looking at putting things within reach as I'm not very tall and dont like leaning over for stuff while I'm driving.

I always thought the H1 would be cool.

Eventually, this is what I'm planning on doing to mine.

That's kinda what I'm after, but the lower right panel wouldnt go down as far (I have a manual trans). That website has one that is almost exactly what I'm looking at, but they want almost $900 for it, so I'll have to find a way to make my own:D

I think the Hummer dash setup is what inspired me, but I dont have an auto matic no do I have such a high trans tunnel. Once the doubler setup is in, I'll have the triple shifters with the cable setup, but I want to keep those right next to the drivers seat. Really my only problem is the stick shift:(

You could cut the shifter down and make it a shorty so it would clear or even go to a floor shifter....make a different center console and use a shifter from a camaro or something.

It's for a truck with a manual trans. It doesnt get much more floor shifted than that:D. Otherwise I'd use something like what supersize posted, only with the gauge faces angled towards the driver.

The most I can do is torch the stick and reshape it to get more clearance, but I still cant have anything that goes all the way to the floor. I guess I could but it would be on the passenger side, and my wife likes her leg room!

:doah:My bad i briefed through it...looked at pics but skipped some text it seems.....That does make it tricky! go auto and my idea works.......:D
