I yanked the fire blanket material from underneath my hood along time ago. The paint on my hood is peeling off, in large chunks, I think the truck was repainted and someone didnt prep it right or something. Im going to spray bomb it, but it got me thinking...

I know the hood can get warm with no insulation under there and it could effect paint, I dont want the bother or weight of that insulation, so what about some WHITE engine/hi temp ceramic paint? I seen on TV one of the spike TV shows where they used this paint on the underside of an intake mani. It helps keep heat from getting to carb, etc. Wouldnt this work the same for a hood?

Thoughts?

I know this was mentioned in another thread recently, but the underhood blanket does NOTHING for paint protection. Any paint damage after blanket removal is purely coincidence and would have happened anyway. Good paint that is kept clean will hold up just fine.

Paint it whatever color you think will look best;)
