Thanks all, I'm gonna go with the MTs... i found them for 159.00 somewhere... lol... I forgot where now, but I know where to look. Thanks for the suggestions and responses... it's greatly appreciated.

I have the older BFG Mud and I found the sidewalls soft and vulnerable (3" long sidewall puncture) from merely cruising around on powerline access roads

I noticed a Swamper (radial) SSR... in 35x10.5", but I haven't heard much first-hand info on lifespan and/or balancing.

The new version of the BFG MT (the KM) has a more stout sidewall then the older version. It should take more abuse the old ones.

I have been told bad things about the SSR's with the 6 ply sidewall. They are supposed to be pretty weak. The 16" whee version with the 10 ply sidewall is supposed to be much stronger.

Both good pieces of info. :)

Goodyear Workhorse Extra Grip, just had my 5th set put on last week. $150 per installed at Walmart. Best tires I have had, except the Armstrong 11X15 Tru-Tracs I had on my CJ-5.

I wouldn't run retreads on anything that saw highway use. I have seen to many retreads on big rigs that came apart to make me believe that they are a good tire.

Mostly Onroad = BFG AT or MT
Half/half = MTR
Mostly Offroad = TSL

I agree with the chart. I run MTR's and have 40K on them. the top part about retreads is his opinion. I worked in a tire shop where we mounted retreads all day long. the trick to getting a good one is to start with a good used tire. there are shops out there that will retread anything and that is where problems start. I take hundreds of road calls a year and the majority of flats and bowouts are new unretreaded tires. whenever you see lots of peices of tire on the road thats a new tire. retreads when they fail tend to lose the entire tread. Wear out the size tire you want to run then have them retreaded. that way you have control over the casings they use and they will cost half as much as an entire retreaded tire.

lets let this thread die again..lol

As far as retreads, that company is cool, if you see snow or ice make sure to get the Green Diamond ones even if you have to wait for them to get some. One of my friends inist on nothing other than those.

heres how a bfg a-t works. soft thin mud like on prarie..get em spinnin shoot some bad ass roosts and spray everbudy...sand-great. any kind of thick sticky mud...trun around yuor gettin stuck...they do good for a bit but will eventually gum up become slicks adn you gotta run on hard ground or spinn the **** outa em to clean htem off...just my .02
