now this is a more modern retro k5 blazer

The two-tone paint doesn't work on that body style. But otherwise in my opinion that's what GM should of built for the new blazer.

That with the little 4 cylinder duramax would be a rig for a daily.

i think it all boils down to----is there a market for this, or any other type of vehicle? If no, they aren't going to do it.

1) Would anyone who is hard core with previous blazers buy a new blazer if it was available? Even someone like myself who is short on time and would be open to buying new, would not automatically 100% definitely do it----because of the cost.

2) The majority wants crossovers now, so that's what is offered.

3) GM is and has been RE-active rather than PROactive and conservative; They are going to wait for ford, chryco, or the imports to try something first, THEN if it's successful will they come up with something similar. This has been going on for at least 60 years.......

(the only exception i can think of is duallys and crewcabs, but even that was a result of a reaction to the mustang.)

(The blazer itself, while an original concept, was also originally a reaction to the bronco etc)

Say GM made a similar new blazer, not sure i would like seeing everyone and their mom’s with one. In my mind thats part of what makes the K5 so cool, is that you dont see them every day. Sure that means that they dont have all the creature comforts, but thats part of customizing them, we can add whatever we want. Goes with the “built not bought” logic somewhat. Maybe I’m selfish, but i only want blazers in the hands of enthusiasts, who appreciate them, not some some random person who is just buying a new car off the lot.

Look at wranglers. When they added the 4dr JK, everyone went crazy, and now they are all over the place. That being said, it was obviously a great business move for Chrysler.

I’d just hate to see that happen to the blazer.

That's what a Suburban & Tahoe is for--a 4 door Blazer,basically...

I look out my front window and see a new Jeep Wrangler go by about every 90 seconds..most of them 4 doors, and several had the doors OFF too..the dealer must be raking in millions..

I am not interested in owning a GM truck built after 1987...for one thing you cant find one with a non rotted frame around here built after 1988,the 2000 and newer ones are the worst!..the ads on CL and FB are loaded with $500-$100 "parts only" trucks from 2000 and up,but you cant find a square body for under a grand that isn't a worthless pile ...people are going back to older trucks!..

We are within 20 years of having a mostly electric or non fossil fuel hybrid based fleet. Even the Wrangler will get electrified eventually if it survives that long.

The oems are going to build what the masses want now. The masses want crossovers to the point that gm and Ford are killing off sedans right now.

Face it guys we are in the minority. While we all would like a retro styled rough and ready full frame solid axle 4x4 it ain't going to happen. If they did the sticker on it would be $50,000 and up from there. Just look at 1/2 ton truck and tahoe pricing for a comparison point right now. At that price it's limiting the market of who can buy it. Full tilt Rubicon 4-door wanglers are coming in close to that price right now anyway.

Ford is taking a big risk taking on the Wrangler with the new bronco. The Wrangler is well established with deep aftermarket support. Every other challenger to the Wrangler has failed for various reasons. The FJ Cruiser, h3 Hummer, Chevy tracker/Suzuki sidekick and the list goes further back.

Best thing we can do is swipe the newer modern drivetrains and swap them into our K5's and have the modern performance/economy and the vintage styling with solid axles.
