NP 203 crossmember modification 4 205, need some help

OK I currently have a 203(T350 Trans) in my rig. I have a 205 with the TH350 adaptor(I think it's out of a 1st gen), problem is, where the adaptor bolts to the crossmember is slightly different the bolt pattern is approx 2in skinnier. Can I modify my crossmember to accept the 205 adaptor? Would just drilling new holes be acceptable? should I reinforce the crossmember after I dill new holes with steel plate. Underneath the rubber tcase mounts are there oval holes to accept either tcase? (some of the holes in the frame are like this I noticed).

I have a 73 k5.

Yup, you hit the nail on the head, the Crossmembers are Exactly the same, they're slotted for either adaptor.
