How do you positively identify a NP 203 from a 208?

I have access to a free TH350 and its Transfer case still in the truck(79-80).

If its a 203, I may be interested in getting to use the range box for a doubler. If its a 208........ is it worth getting?

I currently have a SM465 and NP 205 now, but a 203/205 doubler sounds cool.

Thanks in advance......

The 203 is kinda long , heavy , cast iron case , side shifters , and a fixed rear yoke .

The 208 is aluminum and has a slip shaft for the rear driveshaft and a single shifter spot .

You may find a 205 and think its a 203 , but the 205 is short , and has two shift rods on the front facing the engine joined with a bar with a single center hole .

Thanks man. The info is much appreciated........and quick!!

its not a 208 if its from a 79-80 and original. the 205 you have wont work with a doubler without modification or until NWF comes out with there updated doubler. Also to go 465/203/205 you either need a 32 spline spline 203 (which would be a 27 spline on 350)+ 32 spline 465,205/465 adapter, 205/465 adapter (round 6 bolt) and you still need to do something with your 205. OR you need 10 spilne 205, 465/203 adapter, 10 spline 203, and still need to do something with your adapter... if that doesnt clear ewverything up just hit the seacrh button...

I'm going to do my doubler with a th350/203 to a chevy 10 spline with a ford 31 shaft , custom spacer and proper bearing . Marv made it so I don't have to bore the case . Saving for the ORD kit as I type :thumb:

i forgot about that, you can use a 31 spline ford shaft in a 10 spline case, dont you just love marv? he definetly opened up some new doors for us. i have a 10 spline 205 in the garage that may just find its way home into a doubler...
