np 205 idler shaft bad?...pics.

In the process of a master rebuild of my 205 for the first time. The idler shaft seems pretty grooved out and worn. Does it need to be replaced?

That is normal, the bearings do not ride on that portion of the shaft and EVERY 205 i've had apart (about 15 now) the shaft looked EXACTLY like that one.

Pretty much what mine looked like. Just had it apart. Only thing that rides there is a spacer collar with a matching oil hole.
 
Looks exactly the same.

I just took apart my 205 today to overhaul it and the shaft is exactly the same. I thought it was torn up but apparently this is normal. My question was about the idler gear itself.

3 apart few months ago for me. all looked like it.

i did clean up the shaft a bit to help reinstall with no hang ups.
