Np 205 NP 205 Doubler!

Has anyone ever seen/attempted to use a mated NP205 and a divorced NP205 to create a double 205 t-case setup? I have them sitting in my shop and was contemplating the idea. Any thoughts, comments ETC, would be great while im deciding to try it out or not!
 
It's been done, just need lots of wheelbase to accomodate the drivetrain length.
 
There are better setups then 205/205 combo.
 
^^ That one looks familiar. I have done it in 2 vehicles. One had a married Chev and divorced Ford, the other has a chopped married Ford and divorced Ford. Front drivelines are close to the married case on both. You will need a long wheelbase. An ORD 203/205 or 3-4 speed Atlas is better IMO.

I say go for it! Hell I'll be doing a RangerOD/465/203/205 setup next spring. I have everything but the doubler adapters and to the best of my knowledge, noone else has done this. How does 32 forward gears sound? :D
 
Well I was only considering a 205/205 because I have a 205 mated to a 465, and I have a divorced 205 out of a dodge truck. I figured since I had them both it would workout...The length is the only think that may be in issue, but I think I have the room, its going into a 1973 Jeep Commando with a diesel motor, rockwells, if I can find some reasonable, if not I have a Dana 60 front and 14FF rear.
 
Too long, too heavy, and you wont get the gearing you want. Find a 203 and do a doubler, or twinstick the 205 and get a klune or a black box.
 
If he's packing this behind a 465 trans, he wont need much deeper gearing. If you need to go super slow, double low on a 205/205 and granny wont be a noticeable difference than 203/205. And some folks just lop off the front output section of the front 205, plate it and just run the back output. Then its not much of a weight difference than a 203/205 doubler.

And not all of us have the $$$$ for a Klune or Atlas. Why not use what you have?
 
I was looking at one that was done on pirate4x4 and it was cut off and plated, looks like it would work well...I also have a 203 but thought the strength of the twin 205s would be better and save me the cost of the doubler kit.
 
As far as the gearing is concerned, the twin 205's will be plenty....sm465 205/205 behind a diesel motor, gearing should be great, if I am able to find rockwells that will give me even lower gearing than my 4.56 geared 60/14ff
 
If you are doing a married Chev 205 and a divorced Dodge 205, the front driveline will probably hit the married case.
 
The married case gets cut in half to the front output is removed leaving room for the drive line to pass by the married case.
 
strength is not an issue with a 203-205, you only use the gear section of the 203, which honestly looks stronger to me than the 205 reduction section

I never said I'd use all 32. But with that many options, there shouldnt be too much I cant drive over or on. Anything from the highway to the high ground.
 
Not to hijack but isn't the ranger limited to like 400 lbs ft input torque, fine with a small block. I would like one but a future cummins swap and a 454 right now kind of deters me
 
Ranger OD is rated for 420ft/lbs and 25k lbs GVWR. So no you cant use it behind a healthy BBC or most diesels. But the NV4500 is rated at 450ft/lbs, only 15k GVWR and the NV5600 is rated at 550ft/lbs and only 16k GVWR. So your losses and gains depend on how you use the vehicle.
