NP 205 NP208 swap

I have an 84 K5 can you swap out an NP 208 and replace it with an NP 205. If so is there any special modifications I need to do this.

depending on trannys, you might need a diff adapter and maybe x-member... i am prolly wicked wrong but

how do i tell what transmission i have

auto or manual? if auto is it a 3 speed? if it's a 3 speed auto is the pan square with a corner cut off?
