will one off of a th350 bolt up to a th400? Do I need to change anything?

The th350 uses a 27 spline output while the th400 uses a 31? spline output. So you should only have to change the input to make it work, as well as having the correct adaptor.
th350 & 700r4 = 27 spline output tail and 4 bolt pattern housing.
th400 & 4l80-e = 32 spline output tail and 6 bolt pattern housing.
205 27 spline male input with coupler sleave.
205 32 spline female input no coupler sleave.
bigger bearing on input gear also. if swaping will require machine work to fit bigger bearing.

Looks like I might look in to the retrofit dodge 208 slip yoke idea and hang on to it then... Seems easier!
