So what parts do I need to do the conversion from a slip yoke to a fixed?

Would it be cheaper in the long run to sell the slip yoke 205 and buy a fixed?

Whats the difference between a figure 8 pattern and the other style? And pros and cons between the two?

Thanks

Slip yoke conversion is really easy. You need a fixed yoke shaft, nut, washer, yoke and seal retainer/seal. It only takes abut 30 minutes to swap the parts out.

Figure 8 are 1969-1982(?) and round adapters are 1983-1991ish. The round ones are easier to mate to 4l80e and NV4500s. All the round adapter cases have 32 spline female input shafts.

I used used stuff for mine because I had 4 transfer-cases laying around.
JB conversions sell a kit although I've bought compete NP205 transfer cases for the amount they want for a kit.
However, the jb conversions IS a nice shaft. It has some improvements over the factory stuff and right now, appears to the one with an improved aftermarket shaft. I may buy one day.

Buying a used transfer case to beat the jb conversions kit depends on your area and how much the NP205 is going for.

You can also try ebay also, I've seen people part out NP205 and sell the fix rear output so people can do the conversion.
