Question, is there any difference in NP 205's? I'm watching a NP 205 being sold on ebay, the guy has it listed as a Ford NP 205. Would it line up the same as any found in a Chevy vehicle? The other question is that it's out of a 1979 Ford truck, would that be a problem put that into a 1985 K5?

Other than that the output shaft is on the wrong side for a Chevy, and you'd need an adapter to mate it to a Chevy transmission.... No, nothing's different.

Are you running a Ford axle up front?

You'd be in for a rude surprise if you weren't....

:usaflag:

Since you have an 85 I'm goin to assume it has a 700R4.The 700's are 27 spline and the Ford 205's are 31 spline and DSD instead of PSD.

Are you running a Ford front alxe?? If not then this would be totally wrong for you.If you are and need a DSD case,I really dont see any way to get it behind a 700 unless your building a doubler.

Thanks for the input, that's what I love about this site, the knowledge is priceless. I have Chevy 10 bolts axles for this Np 205 wouldn't be a easy fit. Currently I have a NP 208 (stock), I'm not having any issues with it, but I've heard that the NP 205 is better, that's why I was looking. Thanks for the info guys.

Get in the habit of checking the FOR SALE areas and your regional ones too (New England Region, Mid Atlantic)

I had a TH350/NP205 combo for sale that would have helped you, but it's sold now. More stuff comes up all the time, so it pays to always be on the lookout. Craigslist can be helpful if you're willing to deal with the flakes that post there....
