NP 208 input shaft question PICS

I know that a TH350 and a TH400 version of the 208 has different size input shafts. Is the 208 input shaft the samesize/spline count for a TH400 and a manual transmission?

I scored a 208(TH350) the other day to replace my fragged 208. I was tearing them apart to swap input shafts, and discovered my TH400 input shaft was hammered beyond repair.

I have a line on another 208 that was mated to a 4 speed manual transmission and I was wanting to make sure the input shaft is the same.

Thanks for any help.

Bob

Here are some pics of the range fork and the input gear shaft.

And here is the difference between the 27 spline TH350/ 700R4 input shaft (on the right) and a TH400 input shaft.

All TH350's were 27 spline,

EARLY sm465's were 10 spline(86 and below), later went to 32 spline(86 and up)

TH400's were all 32 spline.

So yeh, you could use the shaft from the manual tranny if its 32 spline which it should be...I dont remember off the top of my head what year they started doin sm564/208 combo's

Right on, I think I found my answer here. I am not sure what year the donor transmisssion/ t-case are. I guess I will find out tomorrow.

High Impact has some good info, I got alot of trany/tcase info there in regards to the years/spline counts

I thought the change year was 84. My 85 K30 that just got converted from SM465/205 to a TH400/208 out of a CUCV had a 32 spline shaft.

The intro for the 32 spline 465/208 was '81. 465/205 combos probably remained 10 spline for a few years longer though.

The change year might have been '84, all my info comes form experience and actually seein different things. By no means am I an expert so that is definately possible.
