I have an 88 K10 blazer with 3/4 ton axles and a leaky NP208. there's a k30 in a near by yard that has a NP205.

ive been thinking about stacking a 203+205, but my buddy says the k30 205 already has a low 4:1, which is my ultimate goal.

...any information will help.

Lol if you found a k30 in a junkyard that has 4:1 gears swapped into the 205 AND you can prove it in the yard I'll wear a dress. And not like a nice dress, a skimpy hooker dress.

Btw my sarcasm means 205s never came with 4:1. They make aftermarket gears for them I believe but never came with them.

Yep, no 4:1 205 ever made. Even when you do a doubler you're only at 3.94:1 using a standard 203 ratio. There once was a 3.1:1 kit for a 203 range box and stack a 205 and you could get 6.08:1

well, it was said a couple times but no np205's with 4:1. I would say to drop and repack the 208 so it isn't so leaky and then use what you have. The really aren't that bad of a transfer case. If you want 4:1 or something close to that start with reading all of the research over at offroaddesign.com. That is free info on that combo swap and will avoid a lot of questions over on this site.

Thanks guys, i had a hunch there was no such 205, just needed some reassurance. as for the 208 leak, ATF leaks from the where the front and rear case bolt together.

if your gonna split the case..change the seals too...esp the slip joint seal and the rubber bushing it rides on..what happens is they get hard over time and then they leak...thats what mine had done

I fixed it by putting in a 203/205 doubler..just to make sure the 208 would never leak again :)
