NP 208 Question???

In my 86 K5, I have a 700r4 and the NP208. Im having some weird drivetrain noises and im leaning towards the t-case. My question is should the front driveshaft spin feely by hand when parked?? I can only turn it about 1/4 turn before it locks up. Ive tested the t-case and everything seems to work fine going into and out of 4 hi and 4 low. It does not make any noises during that operation, just driving down the road at highway speeds.

Any input is much appreciated

if its only in 2 wheel,it should spin freely.as the drive gear wouldnt be touching the main gear on the transfer case.

Yes, only when in 2wd. When I park and crawl under the truck the front shaft will not turn freely. So I think I have a problem....

the hubs might be stuck locked in.try putin your hand in and spin the axle shaft by hand through the knuckle.or lift one of the tires on each side and see if it spins freely.

I have not tried to lift a tire and spin that way. but the hubs are unlocked and when I do turn the front DS I can watch the front u-joints turn about 1/8th of a turn before locking. Thanks for the input, I will try that this weekend.
