Wheeling this weekend it seems like the t case will not go out of 4wd without backing up a bit. Shifting in between 4 hi and 2 hi while driving it does not come out of 4x4 until I stop and back up a bit.

Hubs were locked, they are milemarkers they work fine as far as I can tell. I can hear them locking.

Axle is a 10 bolt. 4.56 gears.

There is a spring in the case that helps it Return. Its not very big, but its needed. Also, the synchro could be getting a little worn causing it to hang up. Either way, i wouldnt be to worried about it. I have a spring you can have, as well as a synchro. I can put them in the box with those seats from Gus.

That would be cool!!

I will do further investigation and see if I can tear it apart. I do want the capability to shift on the fly. We get alot of patchy icy roads around here. So its nice to leave the hubs locked and be able to shift in and out as needed

mine won't shift out when there is a load or bind on the drivetrain. seems to be the nature of the beast. but it is easy to shift out on the fly if i give it a little throttle, put light pressure foreward on the transfer case shifter and let off the throttle. when the drivetrain slacks to 'coast' it usually just shifts right out. the key is light pressure, don't force it out.

i've also discovered over the years that running 5 psi more in the front tires than the rear (for a lightly loaded or empty truck) seems to make it easier to shift in/out without drama

I actually tried this. It shifts just fine, just not completely it seems. I have to stop and back up a foot or two to get it out of 4x4 no matter if the shift indicator is in 2x4.

Every 241 equiped rig ive ever been in does this. I like my 208. While my buddy is backing up going forward bla bla, i shifted mine and it goes in right now and im off. Only time i gotta stop is shifting into and out of 4lo and putting the transe in neutral. Still shifts in and out right now.

My 241 shifts better then any 208 I've had, for a DD I dont think there is a better choice

I have had a 208 and 241 in the same truck, and the only time it wouldnt come out without backing is when the tire heights would get uneven.
now that I think about it, It usually wouldnt come out of 4 till I would throw it in neutral while rolling.

I have always put mine in neutral while rolling and take it out of 4 high before it stops. Never had an issue.
