So I replaced this in the Jimmy I think last year sometime. Then the Jimmy was down for a couple months.

Well drove the Jimmy down to my inlaws for fathers day today ( about 60 miles on the interstate one way) and by dang the thing is leaking again.

I know the permanent fix is a SYE and I am trying to get one local here.

So whats my problem. Jimmy has a 6" lift on it. No CV on the driveshaft, if the driveline has vibes they are very very minor. The angles on the axle and the t case are within 2 degrees.

Could the slip yoke be worn out a bit causing it. Is it just something I have to put up with until I can get a SYE?

Both of the last seals and bushings I have gotten have been from Napa I can't remember the brand. Any brand out there better than the other.

I do have another tail shaft from a 241 should I swap that one in could the tail shaft be worn out.

Its a blast having it drip cause it drips right on the exhaust. Tranny fluid dripping on exhaust makes your rig look so awesome going down the road :doah:

I need to get it fixed for now just want to know what you guys have tried that worked

Mine has always leaked a bit. Could be the slip is worn some. Im not sure if they make a speedy sleeve for that, or if it would even work because it moves.

On a side note the bushing you get from all the part stores does not fit. I know there is a thread on here somewhere about it and I posted last time when it happened to me.

I ended up getting one ordered from a Trans shop by the dimensions, and the new bushing didn't really change anything for me as far as leaking.

My napa has the right one usually in stock. All the other stores its way too small.

Maybe I need to check and see if I need to get a different one. I will look at the thread.

Might have to check with GM to see if they still have em

I just got a used tail housing from a member on here (Snoozer), and the bushing in his was so tight, I could hardly get the slip yoke to slide in it. Should see where he got that one from.

I seem to remember you talking about this last yr.
Anyway, GM still has them. Part#15665313
Cheap...$5-$7
Only one that seems to work. Do the seal as well.

Yah thats when I found that Napa had them. Guess its time to order the GM one and see how it does

Thanks Irish, trying to work a deal where I will end up with a SYE we shall see

Just ordered a couple of em. Cost me 12.95 in shipping and handling and 9.58 in parts :doah::doah:

Well, I went by the parts store last night and got the kit above from them. I took the sleeve and tried it on the new driveline slip yoke and it went on without any binding. So I guess this it the correct one.

I did find a link on a t-case fix but looking at the location of the sleeve, I think the tail housing needs to be removed to get the new one installed (unless I'm missing something). I'll try it out tonight......

The tailshaft comes off super easy so I have never tried it with it on. I haven't put mine in yet because of some different things but they are currently in the freezer so i am hoping they will just slip in

Well, after some fun, its all in now. What I found was that the repair kit from AutoZone above is incorrect and the sleeve ist too small. It fits just fine on the driveline, but it too small to fit into the tail housing. We pressed the old one out in the parts store and expected the new one to fit nicely snug. It just dropped through the hole onto the ground. Couldn't believe it because they really looked identical!

What I had to do is find a tranny shop and he had the correct one sitting on his shelf. I tapped it in with a rented bearing installer and all done. Fit perfect!

I read somewhere that a guy drilled a holein the tail shafthousing and screwed in a grease zert. Drilled his bushings too so the grease would go right in. Used some high temp grease. Claimed it helped his problems. Just a thought
