Does anybody have a part number that actually fits? I have the Autozone and the napa parts and both of them fall through the opening :angry1:

Nobody? The guys at Napa are going to research it some tomorrow for me. The busing that came in the kit is about .010-.015 too small on the outside diameter.. the inside diameter seems correct. The seal is correct.

i had the same problem with my np208. i finally went to my local transmission shop and they put a new one in for me for 15 bucks.

Yeah I found a lot of threads with a similar problem, but not many with a resolution

The housing is round. We checked it with calipers last night. Its 1.995". I found the GM part number 3978765, but I dont have a local dealer, and I can't find specs of that pn anywhere.

Have the boys at auto zone pull out a tailshaft bushing for a 2wd Th400, thats the bushing for the back of a 208 and i think it is the same as 241. Obviously take in your tailhousing so you dont get home and curse that DeviousK5 guy

Yeah I just looked up the part for a TH400 one on Napas site. It lists the bushing as 1.5" deep whereas mine is 1" and the OD is listed as 1.995 which is the exact size of the bore. Shouldnt the bushing be a little bit bigger like .010?

I ordered one from Napa OD 2.0015. The bore is 1.9995 so we'll see I guess. I'm gonna look at the TH400 bushing after work and see if I can find one that fits too.

My buddy has a cracked in half 208. Will the whole tailshaft swap over? Thats my backup plan so I can wheel Sunday!

Go to a transmission shop and get the hat seal with the long dust boot and the bushing for cheaper than wrong **** at auto-zone.

Just go to the GM dealer. They only cost like 8 bucks and it is the correct part. I had the same thing happen and got them from every local part store near me.

I dont have a local GM dealer on this little island, and wasnt able to get out of work all week to go an hour to the closest one.

The part i got looks like its gonna work. Gonna be a press fit, and the slip slides in great.

Clevite 02745 is the part I got.

I have the same problem with the bushing in the tailcone.....and ordered some parts at Drivetrain...
I didn't know that there were so much different slide bushings availible for the NP241 tailcone....hope I recieve the correct parts!!!
