So in my quest to find parts for my build I am at a dilemma on what t-case to use. So far what I have for the build (my 78 K5) 4:10 D60/14 Bolt, 6.5TD, NV4500 5 speed. Plans are to run 37's once it's all said and done. I will only do moderate wheeling, as most of my budget goes to my family. Therefor any fancy type double is out of the question. Not to mention the aluminum tail shaft makes me leery of hanging a heavy cast unit off the back. I have never had anything with a 241, but I hear they are pretty stout. Plus if I find a 32 spline one it will bolt right up.

So is this a good plan? Pro's and Con's?

Only con really is the fact that you would be better off to get a SYE kit for said 241.

That is it. Best gearing of a single t-case in our trucks, lightweight, plenty of aftermarket support.

Only "con" in my eyes is there not as common in passenger side drop as a a 208.

I've run one for the last couple of years in all my rigs and have been very happy with them! Just make sure you install some good skid plates under it to protect it from any impacts and it'll last a long time.

...and 90% of them were behind 700R-4's.

32 spline inputs are available, and they're dead easy to swap when you're doing the SYE thing.

Good call Russell. One good thing about the 241 is I could install a clocking ring and get a flatter underside and not really sacrifice ground clearance with a skid plate.

LOL I never can seem to find the 28 spline versions . I have 6 32 spline versions 5 of them passenger drop

Maybe it has to due to location. Them Alaskans probably bought more heavy duty vehicles.

Thats true mine are from Air Force and Pipeline Suburbans all 3/4 tons except the drivers drop which came from a 92 1-ton SRW reg cab

We actually have lots of heavy duty trucks around here. Problem is most of them over the years have been used by logging company's and they beat the ever living crap out of them. Not to mention this area around here is usually damp and foggy so rust is a big issue. So most of the heavy duty trucks die a slow death before getting crushed.

Yeah are trucks get the same kind of abuse as well as temps that dip below -45 on a regular basis ............-65 on the slope were alot of these trucks get used
