I've just purchased a 1978 chevy for parts. I was told that it had a np203 but when i crawled under to take a closer look i discovered that it's got a np201 transfercase?? Is this a good t-case?

I've never heard of an NP201. Full size chevy's got either a NP203, NP205, NP208, NP241 or I think it was a Dana 20 in some early Blazers. Snap a pic and somehow link the pic to here and we can tell you what you have.

Yea that's what i thought too but the tag reads 201. I'll take some pics but i thought i wasn't aloud to post pics on hear. If i can how do i go about it? Sorry kinda new to the whole forum thing!

You're right, you won't be able to post pictures until 15 posts or so.

The big key will be is the transfer case directly mounted to the transmission or is there a little driveshaft attaching the two? My guess is you have a 203 or 205 and the tag wasn't stamped very well.

Its a 203. 201 is listed on the tag as the low range ratio, not the case number.

DING DING DING, we have a winner. I totally forgot that the ratio was stamped into the plate and a 203 is 2.01:1

Ding Ding is right i was reading the ratio haha... i'm an idiot!! But thanks for the help!
