Does anyone know a trick to pressing the retainer pin out of the shift fork? I fiddled with different things under the truck until my hands were too frozen to work. There isn't enough room between the floorpan for a hammer. Same goes for the other side, the shaft is in the way.

I have a spare chain (not a whole case), and I'm trying to put that in there without having to pull this heavy pig all the way out of the truck. I just want to limp it along until I can rebuild my 205 (don't have the tranny adapter, or it would already be in there) and afford a doubler plate.

Dude their is sooo many needle bearings in a 203 I wouldnt even think about replacin the chain with the case still in the truck, but thats just me.:D

Just got in for dinner, so here's and update:

needle bearings weren't too bad, I just held a party cup under the shaft and spun it around until all the needle bearings fell into it. I'll use assembly goo to put them back. I got the pin out of the shift fork. I used a torx 15 bit with a 3/8" drive. It fit into the roll pin but widens at the base. I pressed it out with water pump pliers. The two bolts on top of the chaincase are the worst though. You have to work on them blind and right under the floorpan. One of them was easier to get to from above with the tranny tunnel out.

I wish I just had the money to build the doubler right now lol.

Can you not unbolt the crossmember and drop if down alittle????

Dunno, Ive had the tunnel out for months anyways. It was working without messing with the crossmember, so I went with it. Now let's hope the spare chain I'm putting in there was actually any good. I just don't have the adapter or shift linkage for the 205, or I would just throw that in there.
