77 Jimmy 4x4 w/SB400/TH350/NP203 - Should I just swap in a 205 now?

Edit - Well nevermind about that. Got the linkage adjusted enough to get it into the all 3 detents and figured out the P.O. moved the shift plate forwards a bunch and turned the stick backwards so it made it look like the truck was in Hi the whole time (people are such thieving bastards these days I swear). I still don't know if it's converted or not but I don't care anymore as I'm pretty sure the T-Case is dusted inside since I can get it into the Hi detent and all I get is light grinding like something is partially touching.

It really pisses me off because I should have paid 1000 bucks less for this truck already, and now this... But anyways...

So the thread has changed to... What T-Case should I swap to???

Thanks Chalet, I'd seen that thread but the fact my T-case is pudding inside and I couldn't tell one of the detents EVEN EXISTED threw me off and had me frustrated trying to find info that applied to me... lol, but either way I figured out how it "should" be and why it isn't, now on to bigger and better things.

Why swap cases? If your 203 is gone, you can pickup a good one for next to nothing and not have to worry about modifying(spending money) on anything else. Once you swap t-case's you have to start looking at new driveshafts, adapters, different tranny's or outputs, etc. 203's work fine, just not the best thing for hard offroad use, big tires, locked diff's, and such.

If you're going to use the thing hard offroad, then there's better options.

I went and got a nice looking 205 in the junkyard today for halfoff weekend. Found one on a 73 th350 so I got it with adapter and all. Tommorow I'm off to find a Jimmy/Blazer with a TH350/NP205 combo so I can rob the drivelines from under it. Hopefully by Tuesday I'll be at my cousins house stabbing my NP205 in and ripping the gear reduction box off my 203.

I found a Dana 60 front and a 14 bolt full floater out there that I should've grabbed too, but I'm gonna take it one step at a time.

Just cause it's my truck

Cause I can

and this is what it's all about baby, making **** happen!
