which is better a np203 or a np208(with slipyoke). i ask because i realy want to get rid of my slipyoke and i don't want to buy a np205 or a 241 and do a conv.. i have a 81 sub with a 350/th350, 3/4ton, locked in the rear. thanks for any help

you can get an np205 with a slip yoke...

That is a loaded question. There are pro's and con's with each. AFAIK there weren't any 203 with a slip yoke though. If it were me i would do a 203 so when you decide to go with a doubler you already have the range box and the t-case adapter.

You do realize that the TH350 that came in front of that 208 has a different output shaft length than one that came in front of a 203 ???

Can I not us a th350 to np203 adapter to install it? I have a question, I know the 203 is a full time tcase, so if i installed a part time kit what would the shifting patern be? Just 4wheel and 2wheel? And what if I put in a part time kit and a twin shifter, what would it be? 4wheel/2wheel - Hi/Low ? Why do people frown on the 203, is it just because of the fact that it is a full time tcase? Or is my 208 with the slipyoke still better than a 203? Sorry 1 more question, if I can't put a 203 with a th350 or someone convinces me not to get a 203 what other options do I have (other than buying a 205 or taping the output shaft and bolting on a flange) to get rid of the slipyoke?

Reasons to frown on a np203. Its as big as a 203/205 doubler, weighs a ton, full time unless you convert it, has a funky stock shifter, and the low range is only 2:1 vs the np 208's 2.61:1. Im running a 203 with MM shaft replacement kit and ORD twin stick, and I havent realy had any problems minus needing another crossmember. with the twin stick and conversion kit i have 4wd hi and lo and 2wd hi and lo. With all of that its a pretty stout case and I cant complain besides it being a monster, but it will do till I get everything ready for a doubler. I agree with 4x4high, you will be set for a doubler down the road
