NP205 fixed yoke output shaft clip or not?

I am doing a slip yoke eliminator swap on my 205, but I need some clarification. Does the small clip that was on the long spline shaft go on the short shaft as well? See pic, the slip shaft had the large clip at the bearing, and a small shaft under the splines, but after putting the clip in the area shown by the arrow, it is way too loose!

Does it not get used in the short shaft?

Thanks to Kyle at Northwest Fab, my question is answered-- for future reference for anyone swapping just the shaft and seal retainer, you do not reuse the small clip, just the large bearing clip.
