Hello Gents,

With great sadness do I come to you today. I have been collecting parts for my truck for years. "Years" ago I bought an NP205 and TODAY I find out one of the tapped holes, on the side of the case, for the torque braket I believe it is called, well one of the holes is dust, stripped. I am screwed. The unit supposdedly has been rebuilt. It certainly looked it when I received it, you could tell it was hot tanked and all cases were split and new gasket material was ozzing out, I do not doubt it was rebuilt, now I find this and the seller, I can not find him, yet. No matter I need to proceed. I think the best way is to find a doner case and have someone whom is a professional only, do the swap for me. UNLESS it is possible to retap this pig...Can it be done?

TIA!
Brad

What spline count is your 205? If its a 10 or 27 spline they were pretty common and you could just swap the case.

AS for tapping it again, i dont see why not. You would just have one bolt that is different from the others but i would look into tapping it before i started looking for a new case.

Helicoil? Heck I trust them over the stock threads.

If there is plenty of metal around the hole, it should be simple to just ream or drill it out to the next size and tap it.
If the bolt size is critical, then just Helicoil it.

They is hope!

I figured er out and we will live....

While I have your ear, on top of the NP205 is the electrical sender. Anyone have any idea where to get a new one, AND I would like a new elctrical connector for it...

Thanx gents for the above replies, I appreciate it...

the connector is probably just for the 4wd indicator light on the dash. I personally found that orange glow annoying (looked too much like the check engine light) so I unplugged mine. If you really want a new weatherpack connector for it, napa carries them.

Chris,

I would like a new sender AND a new "weatherpack" pigtail for it. It won't be just that easy though, if i walk into napa and ask for a Weatherpack connector for an NP205 they will laugh at me. There perhaps is a specific name for it, and size? Thats what I am looking for bro...I betcha if I just get the exact name for these parts I might be able to find them.
