Hello everyone I've searched all over for a NP205 transfer case that I can use. Can someone tell me what exactly I need to ask for look for ect... I have an 85 Blazer with an SM465 and NP208 on it. The tranny is a 32 spline out put shaft, what year NP205 should I look for or ask for and what type of adapter also. I have herd that the TH400 NP205 with the long 32 spline shaft will work is this true? And what adapter do I use to bolt the NP205 to my SM465? Please any INFO will help. Thanks John

You should be able to use any 85+ 205, the adapter will need to be a 85+ 4spd/205 adapter (don't forget toget the shifter too).

Thank you for the info but all the junk yards around here tell me there is no such thing as a fine spline NP205 they only know about the coarse 10 spline

Then they are idiots. :)

Everything after '85 was fine spline. And how do they explain the Th400 32 splines? Don't listen to those morons.

32 spline cases ARE harder to find though.

Thanks alot I wasn't sure with what they were telling me. Alot a time they don't even know what they have

To clarify for you on the "rarity" of 32 spline 465/205 setups, thats a one ton only application, 1985-1991. You don't see one tons in the wrecking yard very often (if ever) and 4wd ones even less often.

Private party is the way to go.

Thank you for telling me this is there any other NP205 that will work with the 32 spline output on the SM465 not sure but the Turbo 400 Long 32 spline Np205 I herd but not positive. Thnak you

ANY 85+ 205 will work regarless of tranny. The adapters are different but the case and input shafts are all the same after 85.

Note : the 85+ 205 is identifiable by the round pattern for the adapter as opposed to the figure "8" pattern used on the pre-85 cases.

Not sure if that is 100% true. I was surprised to find out that my 86 M1031 CUCV has the figure eight bolt pattern still. Maybe just a military oddity. ;)

Thank you for telling me this I will now look for any 85+ NP205 Will the adapter from my 208 work with the NP205 it has the figure "8" on one side and the round on the other side
