NP205/NP208 interchangeability question.

I am looking for a round pattern 32 spline np 205 for a 241/205 doubler which I have found attached to a th400 tranny. I currently have a th400/np208 from a mid 80's m1008. The guy won't seperate the tcase/tranny and wants $700. My questions is this - Is the 32 spline ouput shaft on my tranny the same as the 32 spline out put on the th400 for the round pattern 205? If so then I may buy the set up and have a spare tranny and i could sell the adaptor. :bow:
 
I can't say for sure, but I'm thinking the output/input shafts may be differnt lengths. The pattern may be the same. It seems like it would be to easy for GM to have done it that way (the trans/t-case area is where they f'd up compared to Ford).

Looks like the Th400 got the short 32 spline output shaft for most of the production run. With 85-91 getting the long one.

Which does yours have?
 
Here's a chart with the different T400 output lengths.
According to the chart the output is the same for the NP208,NP241C & the round pattern NP205 (long input)

im not sure about the round pattern 205, but i tried putting the figure 8 205 behind a th400 and its not happening. shaft to short
 
the shaft will be the same length but the 208 adapter will be diffrent.there is no room for shift rails with the 208 adapter.also you will need the input off a 465/205 for your 205 with that doubler.1tonmudder just went through this with his doubler.he ended up ordering one from nwf.i think its like 150 bucks

oh btw.i just got my round 6 205 for 125 bucks off here :D
 
I think 38377K5 said I could use and round pattern 32 spline np205. I will have to go back and look. I have a np205 that came off a 465 but it is only 10 spline.
