ive got a late 70s 205 in my k5 behind a sm465. it was twin sticked . and somehow I busted teeth off. I didn't really like the twin stick setup and bought a stock 205 with the yoke outputs for the front and rear shafts. my original case had the 4 bolt cv style front output like the 208 cases use and I need to swap the flange to my new case. can I just unbolt it from the old case and bolt it on the new one or is the nut the same way a diff pinion is? meaning is there setup issues or can I just slap it on and bolt the driveshaft on? ive seen both as ok to do in my online searches and am still unsure. I wanna make sure we don't have problems later

The front output shaft spline count is different between the 2 yoke styles. You will need to swap the front output shaft assemblies. Not too hard to do.

correct setup twin stick is 10x better than single lever .

and as said front output shaft is different.

I did a full writeup with tons of pics and info on reman of 203 range box and full 205 with updates in the tech section . but I think you need to be full paid member to view it .

all 3 of my trucks that are 4x4 have 205 and twin stick . even modified both of my good friends trucks for twin stick and they love it also .

what years had the 4 bolt style front outputs? my old case was from 74 I think and the new one looks to be from 78. im keeping the rails and shifters for later. just don't need the twin stick at the moment. kinda a long story there

if you got whole extra case for parts then you have all you need.

around late 70's for 30 spline front change over with the flanges.

that's why im swapping cases. the original's front output shaft clunks bad and you can pull the front output shaft in and out maybe a 1/8th of a inch. it worked fine for a year but i think the bearing at the rear of the shaft that's in the rear cover has gone out. whats the steps to swap the output shafts out?
