NP205 question

I have a chance to buy a NP205 (31 spline/ Chevy) cheap. But it came off of 350 turbo trans (31 spline). I want to bolt it to my TH400 (31 spline). My 400 has the adapter plate for a 205. And I have no idea what trucks or years these things came out of. I would guess late 70's early 80's.

Now the question is.......Will this 205 bolt to my 400?

I just want to make sure before I buy the 205.

Chevy never had a 31 spline tranny. The TH350 is 27 spline, TH400 is 32 spline, 700R4 is 27 spline, SM465 is 10 spline short on the early and 32 spline long on the late. What you're asking though is if a 205 that was mated to a TH350 will fit on your TH400 and the answer is NO.

Ford ran 31 splines on both automatic and manual trannies.

But as far as GM goes, read 4x4HIGH's response above....

If it's 31 spline that is why it's cheap.Ford used a bagillion 205 cases.
