I'm looking to get an np205 transfer case off a guy. I'm not sure if it will fit my truck rite though. I have an 86 with a 700r4 transmission. The transfer case has a " race track adapter"? Will this fit?

I dont know, I think it was in a chevy truck he pulled from a salvage yard. While your here though, I'm buying a used 700r4 with 80k miles on it for 300, what should I look for when I go see it?

Chances are it came from a TH350 or 400...so it wont work with you 700.

A used TH700R4?
What to look for....would be a warranty.
If not, I'd pass.

Impossible to tell.

I wouldnt buy a used auto and expect it to be in working order. Especitally a 700R4.
I would expect the worse.
Unless I was buying from a friend.

If the 205 came from a th350 (27 spline) it will work with a 700r4. You will need to put a different output shaft in the trans or get a spacer plate that goes between the trans and adapter.

The 350 version of a 205 will have a 27 spline male input shaft and the 400 version will have a 32 spline female input.

I would not buy a used auto trans without expecting to atleast go through it to freshen it up (new clutches, seals, etc...)
