I removed the rear output housing on my np205 to fix an oil leak. My problem is that all the little roller bearings fell out as expected, but I cant get the large bearing out. I need to remove the bearing from the housing so the speedo gear can come out and to make it easier to get the housing back on without dropping all those roller bearings.

I can't get a standard bearing press in the other side since the hole isn't big enough. Is there any tricks I can use other than using a wood dowel and a hammer?

use grease to hold the bearings in.

That bearing is just a snug slip fit into the housing. Tap it from the back side in a few places and it should come out. As for the needle bearings just use grease as onetonbb74 has said.

Thanks guys. I guess I just need to tap it out without any fancy tricks.

Do you have new gaskets already? I might have them if you don't.

I do need both the bearing retainer gasket and the output housing gasket. Wanna trade some Cajun chicken pasta for them? I'm working right across the dumbarton bridge now so I'm close by.

Ok, I just went to the garage to verify that I do have the gaskets (I do have them). Lunch sounds good but that all depends on if i'm working the day you want to come out since I only get a 20 minute lunch and can't make it that far to eat.

No problem. I'll pm you when I figure out my
schedule tomorrow and try and figure something out.

No worries, just to be safe I would say to bring both the housing and seal plate to match the gaskets up. I do have gaskets and I did match them up to a Ford housing and plate and they matched (I know the Ford stuff doesn't interchange between the Chevy because of the shift rail cover that's built into the housing but the bolt pattern is symetrical so it should be good.
