Was just going to throw them in dry and let the oil splash up on them. Was at sears and saw a bearing packer and it got me thinking, should my new bearings be dry? Haven't installed them yet. Only talking about the large roller bearings that go by input/outputs

i think you put them in gear oil first then put them in. but i can be wrong :dunno:

I probably wouldnt worry about it, they should get oil quick enough when you drive it.

If nothing else soak them in some 89w90 or lucas oil stabilizer or whatever that stuff is, its really sticky and clings like crazy.

We spray oil on all of the bearings in cases we rebuild but that is mostly insurance that nothing will go bad if the case sits for a while before it's installed.

If you fill it with oil and run it nothing will starve of oil.

Just put a little oil on the bearings when putting it together. Dont use alot of grease, it could plug the oil passage on the idler shaft.

Thanks guys, never really thought about it, but glad I asked.
