I am in search of an NP205 engine block to t-case strut! The one I need came originally on 80's K30 trucks. It specifically has to come off of a K30 that was originally equipped with a 454, turbo 400, and NP205 t-case. Also looking for one of the cast aluminum converter covers from the same vehicle! Must have come off of a 454 truck! Thanks:D

Length

Sorry, I don't have a length right now! BUT I do have a factory K30 @ home, so I will snap a couple of photos and get some dimensions tonight! I don't know if there are any stamped or casting #'s on them, but the GM part # was 14068719! Thanks for your help!

It may help your search to know that I'm 99% sure that the aluminum converter cover is not engine specific. I used a cover from a 400 application on my 454 and the motor mount brackets and struts I used were random.

Post the length for the tcase bar, if 1tonmudder doesn't have it a few I can check.

Converter cover

Thanks for the info! The difference in the covers is the cutout section that meets the engine. You can make the sbc version work, but you do have to do some grinding. I have done this in the past, just trying to find a correct one. There were different part #'s for the cast aluminum version that were specific to sbc or bbc. Mid 70's to 1984 were a part#14038651 sbc only, 81-90 (K & V series) was a part#14024996 BBC only, and starting in 1985 and going through 1990 there were a couple of different sbc #'s 15522023 & 15522125. There are casting #'s on them that sometimes match or a lot of times I can cross the casting #'s over. I am a parts manager for a GM dealer so sometimes I get caught up in the #'s deal! There may also be other versions of them out there, but these are the ones I am most familiar with! Thanks again for everybody's input!

Interesting, I bought my cover for an 80 k20 with 400/400/205 (first one I ever saw) and have used it on 3 different mark IV 454's.

Anyway... Sorry to high jack.

No, honestly I think you are on to something! Not sure how it all plays out as far as #'s go but I am using them on GEN VI 454's with the one piece rear main seals and that area at the rear of the block has a different curvature! Also, I am looking for a set of the plates that mount to the block that the strut rods go to! Most of this stuff is discontinued, but I can still get the strut rods and they are pretty cheap if anybody else is interested.

Check this, I've got an NOS bar GM #14020856. Not sure what it fits.

That shows up in the GM catalog as the correct brace, but for sbc to NP208 t-case application! Here is the description from the GM catalog.
14020856 BRACE, TRFER CASE (**VPI 1-877-846-8243)K1, 2 ( A/TRNS (MD8, M40))1986-198601 N.A.

Thanks again for your help! Sooner or later I will get lucky and find the correct one.

motor dont matter for brace rod. it bolts on back of bell housing on a stud bolt for 1 bell housing bolt. so measure from back of bell housing to first hole in side of tcase and that will get you what ya need.

and there is some slot in the holes on the rods were it fits the tcase if i recall.
