I'm looking for an affordable adapter for my '55 Chevy Short Bed Big Window (Mounted on a shortened 1975 Chev 1/2 ton 4x4 chassis).
I have a '76 Cadillac 500 cu in w/Th400 and a NP205 T/C (from mid 72 Blazer mated to a 4spd) but I need the adapter. I live in Aberdeen WA.

What forum should I list in?
How do I show a pic?

Wrong forum but I wanna see pics of this '55. I love these years of big back window trucks.

Oh yeah, need to know which type of adaptor you need, too. There are 2 different variations to fit 2 different 400 output shafts.

An easier way to identify which 205 you have is by the years. If its an '84 or older and then if its an '85 to '91.

What transmission was the 205 attached to, or, how many splines on the input?

Does the TH400 still have the Cadillac output shaft?

Yes, BPOC TH400 still has Tailshaft and Housing

You'll need to change to a 4WD Chevy output shaft, which one depends on your 205. That requires complete disassembly of the trans.

From there, you'll need a TH400/205 adapter, which you need depends on the 205 you have. If it's figure 8 pattern, we have those brand new for $250. If it's round pattern, they're used only and hard to find.

And finally, your 205 needs to be 32 spline. Most aren't. If it is 32 spline, great, if it isn't, plan on about $200 and some machine work to convert it.

I just took one of those adapters and transfwrcase to the scrapyard. Nooner wanted to buy it and I needed it gone. Too bad I couldn't save it. Sorry I can't help but would also like to see Pics of your truck!!

You don't get rid of a 205 case especially one that mates to a 400. You. Just. Don't. Do. That. :doah:

Yeah I know. Tried to find someone That wanted it and ran out of time. Lost my house and anything that I didn't need or could store got scrapped. Had to fit my house and garage into a 10x10 storage space and needed what money I could get from whatever metal I had since I broke my knee in June. Sorry guys just didn't have time or space to keep it. Whatever didn't get sold got scrapped or trashed.

NP205/SM465 Trade?

OK, how bout a trade. I have a working still in the Blazer mounted behind a 427 BB, (SM465 4spd tranny mated to a NP205 T/C).
Will trade for a NP205/TH350 complete unit.
Anyone interested?

I wish you were closer, I have a fully rebuilt 205 with either a TH350 or NP465 input with twin stick capability, with either tranny adapter also, kicking around in my garage that I need to get rid of. And its a heavy POS that Im tired of tripping over.

Ahhh, read his post wrong. Really you can use that case, just have a machine shop bore out the input bearing opening from 80mm to 90mm. Im 90% sure thats the correct measurements. It can be easily looked up. But the elusive 400 input could prove more difficult to find. Short of ORD of course.

Sorry, Didn't mean to piss you off. I'll stop posting request's for parts.
Don't worry about him. He has a tendency to try and correct others who make mistakes. You'll learn.
