Here's the situation. I have a '69 Blazer with a TH350 and NP205. I also have a '72 Blazer with a manual 3 speed and a Dana 20. Well, I was told it is a Dana 20, but I don't know how to verify that. I am building one good Blazer out of the two.

Questions: 1. How do I identify a Dana 20?

2. Which would you prefer, NP205 or Dana 20? Why?

3. Can a Dana 20 adapt to a TH350?

I would prefer to use the TH350 for the comfort of an automatic, but I'm not sure which t-case would be better to use.:dunno:

Dana 20

Hey man, I too have a dana 20 in my 70 blazer. They are far less common than the 205 and were almost, if not exclusively, mounted behind standard trannies from the factory. The dana 20 is a strong case and is still gear driven but the drawback is that parts may not be as readily available and you may not be able to find an adapter to mate it to your 350. If I was you i would definitely use the 205.Hope the info helps.

X2! The 205 is probably as indestructible as they come and rebuild kits are plentiful. It is more than adequate for the average wheeler and if you're really hardcore you could upgrade the front output to a 32 spline and run a 203 in front as a doubler.

If you want D20 parts, shop the Jeep sites. That's what I had to do for my 70/3 speed with the D20. I HATE the "J" shift pattern on the 20!!!!
