Is $50-$75 a bad price to pay for a rusty, locked up been outside

np 205?

what do you want to do with it?
If its got any water inside, I wouldn't mess with it, bearings, shaft surfaces, shift forks, may all be rusty. There are better ones out there.

yeah im sure it does have water in it and its been outside for a while.. i was gunna rebuild it, my buddy is selling it, so i had first dibs... just didnt know if it was worth the time and money

well if its a buddy, might as well take it apart to see?
If you have to put bearings/seals/or any other hard parts in it, I would find another.

yeah he already said it needs bearings, and its locked up too, ill pass

Most junkyards here want 300 bucks for "any gearbox" like a t-case or diff for older vehicles,so 50 bucks isn't that much for a rebuildable core, since the ones at junkyards often sit outside forever before being sold, and usually suffer some water intrusion...................................................................its getting harder to find any older T-cases now here...(one you can toss right in and use anyway)...If your looking for a NP-205 for a TH350,I have one with the adapter for the t-case and shifter I'd sell....It was in my 77 GMC,I got it from a '72 K20....worked good in 4-hi,I never used 4-lo because the shifter hit the floorpan and wouldn't let it engauge all the way,and it would pop out...I saved it when I parted the truck out and scrapped it...PM me if your interested,I dont want to get in trouble posting something for sale in the garage....

I dont have a project truck or anything to put it in. I thought I might have been something goo to rebuild over time, until i get a project so i have a brand new one by that time
