np208 crack question

Earlier today, while hooking up the support rod (the one that goes to the bellhousing bolt) on my $50 replacement np208, the case cracked slightly at the threaded portion where one of the two bolts goes. It seems the threads were boogered somewhat, so rather than the bolt tightening easily, that portion of the case split. The crack is only at the bolt well and does not extend into the fluid holding portion of the case, I was able to get the bolt somewhat tight without spreading the crack any more (it is basically closed back up). I cleaned the area with brake parts cleaner, generously applied JB Weld, and, later, put some Quick steel over that. So here's my question, is that a viable fix? Will it last?
