I'm looking at exploded views of the 208 and 241... What would prevent the 208 from being used like the 241? I see the different planetary, but what else is different?
Is it possible to cut the 208, get a new shaft and couple it to say a 205?

Thanks for the education

It's all the same basic concept and it could be done, the big key would be finding a way to get a shaft to match the splines in the 208 (it's different than the 241).

As far as I know, nobody makes a shaft for the 208. You could have the stock shaft re-splined and heat treated, but it's probably more expense than it's worth.

Technically it's the same but since the 241 already had the backing of aftermarket with different ratios and the 241 plenetary is stronger with 6 gears vs 3 on the 208, the 241 became the obvious choice.

Do you know how it's different? Isn't the end still a 32 spline (well technically 31 with a key)?
