I decided to service the T-case today when I serviced the front and rear diffs, and installed the rear discs on the 14bolt today. Well, after about a 1/2 quart of ATF came out, nothing. I filled it and it started to drip badly out of the front output shaft seal. :doah: It "LOOKS" easy to do. Seems like I would pull the front shaft, pull the yolk, change the seal and back together it goes....... HOWEVER this truck is the Anit-easy, I couldn't find a DIY online, so I wanted to ask the bretheren before jumping into it. What am I in for? It only leaks from there or I would yank it out and reseal it.

Cool thanks. The yolk feels tight, so I hope a seal fixes it it will leave a 3 inch spot in about 5 minuets dripping right off the yolk. I will get it done monday.

Remember what I said about nothing on this truck being easy? I made this thread at work, drove home, the Check engine light came on on the way home....... I can't win!!!!! Fault code 33 MAP sensor, 42 and 43 ESC module. it started to lose power to. I know all my wiring is good, no vacuum leaks, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, but this truck has had a less then well kept past. I may just throw a knock sensor, ESC, and MAP at it since they are cheap (I'm used to $230 BMW O2 sensors), and reset my timing to "run good" rather then "0" degrees I had it at for smog. And then off to the exhaust shop for a custom exhaust!

They couldn't find the seal at Pepboys so I'm going to order it off the net. One more question, its leaking and dripping not down the t-case, but out of the yoke where the front driveshaft bolts up. I would think if it were the seal, it would be running down the case? Oh, and I have another issue...... the thread will show up, they come in 3's!!!!

If it's leaking where the nut holds the flange on i would remove the flange retaining nut and then apply RTV around the splined area just below the nut and then reinstall and torque the nut. NP205 t-cases use a serrated rubber seal for this exact reason.

if you dont have a seal puller, buy one and use it. i tried skating by with a few flathead scrwdrivers and it made my life hell, and you may gouge the aluminum. as soon as i got the seal puller it was out and 2 seconds

I got a seal puller. I will try the RTV trick first since its leaking out of the nut. I hope nothing else is messed up like the bearings. If it is, oh well, seems like the trans is coming out soon anyway.

Just make sure you use brake clean or something along those lines to clean ALL oil before applying the RTV otherwise it won't work. Also are you sure the t-case isn't overfilled because of a bad t-case input seal?

When I serviced the t-case Saturday I literally got maybe half a quart out of it and it was nasty. Filled it up to the fill plug hole and it immediately started dripping, I noticed it when I move up to servicing the front diff. So that seal I know is good. By chance you you know what size socket it is and if I need a deep well?
