yes i know a hundred times repeated...ive searched and from what im reading just pull off the nut, remove yoke, pull out seal, and check yoke for wear...then there is a "rubber o-ring"

what is that? is it only on some models of 208s or did i mistake that from some 205 thread about it that i read:doah:

then just put it all back together and torque the nut to 150ft/lbs.

yes? no? i just dont wann tear into this and be like F*ck what did i do?

Don't know for certain on an o-ring, as my 205 didn't have one. Mine had worn the yoke so I am still looking for a new yoke for it. Other than that, you have all the steps that I used when I did it to my 205.

Its been a while, but I do not remember having an o-ring on the front output. There is a multi-point star shaped rubber (I think) ring that goes in there, but no o-ring that I'm aware of. I have re-used the old star-shaped things before when they looked good without any problems...

The rubber thing is the oring. It is the seal for the nut that keeps fluid from leaking through the splines. You need to have it to keep it from leaking. I also used black RTV on the splines to keep mine sealed when installing it. it is on the 208's nut I am not sure about a 205

the case is a 208...so when i do it im going to buyfront and rear yoke seals, if they have it a new nut. if not ill just put black rtv on the splines and nut.

Im going to need to drain the case for this correct?

I didn't drain the case until I saw how black the oil was. That made me decide to do a complete drain and fill, but removing the seals only loses a little fluid.
