Hey guys I have a np208 and when i shift it from 2h to N or to 4l or 4h it grinds but still engages. just wondering if anyone knew what could be causing this? Also I have a 4l60 i need to get a gasket kit for and was wondering if the 700r4 kit would work? Thank you ahead of time for the comments and help. best site on the internet.

Hmm fork pads. ill keep that in mind. Im going to check the fluid and drain it when i get off in the morning and see if there is any metal in the fluid. Thank you for the help. Id be lost with out this site.

Are you putting the tranny in neutral before you shift the transfer case???...if not,the tranny output shaft will start spinning when the transfer case is shifted,if you pass thru the neutral position on it,and that'll get the gears spinning and they'll clash together and grind...

Yeah i do put it in neutral first, haha i even read the instruction on the visor to to make sure i was doing it right. because we all have dumb moments. it will engage but it grinds as you shift it. then work fine once its engaged.

Putting in N can still spin the output shaft on the trans. I found the slow roll method works best. Or put it in P. But I like the slow roll in most situations. Engage front hubs first and get the truck moving, let off gas and shift the t-case. For 4L stop and put trans in P and hold brake so there is no pressure on the drive shafts. You should be able to get into 4L pretty easy and no grinding.

i actually just had a buddy that had a k5 tell me the same thing. Ill try it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
