Hey all,

I have an '83 NP208 in the bed and the original stock '88 NP208 in the truck. The '83 came off a 700R4, so it was basically the same drivetrain as my '88.

Anyone know if there was a difference in the spline count, or anything else I should be wary of when swapping?

Thanks!

From that quote, they will both be identical in spline counts and will interchange easily. The only thing you have to watch for is the adaptor since the '83 will be a "tall" version and the '88 a "short" version. Tall and short refer to the height of the adaptor when they are bolted to the crossmembers. An '83 "tall" adaptor sits on a flat crossmember and the '88 "short" adaptor sits on a double-hump member. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Other than the adaptor and crossmember, everything else will swap very easy. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
